COMIC BOOK TO SCREEN

Friday, April 9, and Saturday, April 10, 2010, 7:30 p.m., Musée de la civilisation

As part of Festival de la bande dessinée francophone de Quebec, Antitube and Cinémathèque québécoise present Case / Écran, a program of film about comics.

Francis Desharnais, guest curator and comic book author (Burquette, Les 400 coups, 2008), has made a selection of comic book adaptations and films made with significant involvement of well-known comic book artists. Most are being shown for the first time in Quebec City. Francis Desharnais will introduce the films and explain his rationale for choosing them to audiences at post-screening discussions.

CASE / ÉCRAN:“One medium creates intimacy with the reader using text; in the other movement tells the story. They seem to be closely related but it is not easy to go from one to the other. This carefully chosen program of films includes some of the greatest achievements of comic book authors working in film. We invite you to explore the paths taken by these writer/directors as they take their work from the comic book to the screen.”

Francis Desharnais, curator, Case / Écran
